The focus of the message this quarter is publications. IEEE is a major publisher of scientific and technical content including books, journals, magazines, conference proceedings, courses, and standards.  This content is searchable and accessible through the IEEE Xplore digital library of over 6 million documents which is increasing by approximately 20,000 new documents per month.  The collection includes over 300 peer-reviewed journals, 1,900 global conferences, 11,000 technical standards, 5,000 eBooks, and 500 online courses.  You don’t have to be an IEEE member to search IEEE Xplore for bibliographic records and abstracts, but a subscription is generally required to read the content unless it is available through open access.

The IEEE Systems Journal (ISJ) is a quarterly, peer-reviewed journal published by the Systems Council.  This publication provides a systems-level, focused forum for application-oriented manuscripts that address complex systems and system-of-systems on national and global significance.  ISJ has been published in IEEE Xplore since 2007 and the Editor-in-Chief is Dr. Amir G. Aghdam.

The IEEE Journal on Miniaturization for Air and Space Systems (J-MASS) is a publication led by the Systems Council and co-sponsored by the Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society, the Instrumentation and Measurement Society, and the Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society.  This publication addresses miniaturized sensors, instrumentation, control, and power systems for small air and space platforms and applications.  J-MASS has been published in IEEE Xplore since 2019 and the Editor-in-Chief is Dr. Hanwen Yu.

The IEEE Open Journal of Systems Engineering (OJSE) is a new, open access, technical journal devoted to the multidisciplinary aspects of systems engineering.  This publication is led by the Systems Council and co-sponsored by the Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society, and the Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society.  OJSE began publishing in IEEE Xplore in 2023 and the Editor-in-Chief is Dr. W. Dale Blair.

The Systems Council also co-sponsors the IEEE Transactions on Big Data (T-Data), IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing (TCC) and the Systems Engineering Body of Knowledge (SEBoK).

IEEE Systems Council conference proceedings are also available on IEEE Xplore.

  • Annual IEEE Systems Conference (SYSCON)
  • IEEE International Symposium on Systems Engineering (ISSE)
  • IEEE International Conference on Recent Advances in Systems Science and Engineering (RASSE)

I hope that you appreciate the dedication and hard work that goes into writing, editing, and producing the technical content that comprises IEEE publications.  If so, please join me in giving our authors, editors, and publishers the thanks that they deserve.  Better yet, why don’t you join them?
