As I write this message, the Spring 2024 academic semester is coming to an end and graduation ceremonies are underway.  I would like to congratulate all the students that are graduating and encourage you to continue your membership in IEEE.  Hopefully you enjoyed the activities and enrichment offered by the IEEE student branch at your university.  If you are moving on to another university or professional job, please remember to update your address in your IEEE member profile so that we do not lose track of you and can inform your local IEEE section that you have moved into the community.  As a “Young Professional” you can boost your career interacting with IEEE members who are in the early stages of their professional trajectory.

The Systems Council held a very successful 18th Annual IEEE International Systems Conference (SYSCON) in Montreal, Canada, on April 15 – 18, 2024.  In addition to tutorials, panels, and technical paper sessions, there were several social events for students, young professionals, and affinity groups.  Plans are underway to hold the next SYSCON at the Marriott Delta Hotel in Montreal, QC, Canada during the week of April 7-10, 2025.  Save the dates on your calendar.

On October 16 – 18, 2024, we will host the 10th IEEE International Symposium on Systems Engineering (ISSE) in Perugia, Italy.  The Call for Papers is open, and submissions are being accepted.  Authors of papers that address the systems engineering process are encouraged to submit extended versions of their papers to the IEEE Open Journal of Systems Engineering.  To be eligible for an extension and for submission to the OJSE, these papers must first be presented at ISSE.

On November 6-8, 2024 we will host the 2024 IEEE International Conference on Recent Advances in Systems Science and Engineering (RASSE) in Taichung, Taiwan. The conference website is live and the author portal will be launched soon.

Best Regards,

Walt Downing
