Call for History Column Editor and Articles

The Systems Council Life Member Committee is seeking individuals interested in historical accounts or biographical sketches about events or individuals that shaped the field of systems engineering. The initial intent is to develop a History Column for the Newsletter. If this initiative stimulates sufficient interest, it might evolve into the creation of a Systems Council History Committee. Members interested in this activity should contact the Systems Council Life Member Committee Chair, Walt Downing.

About IEEE Life Membership: 

IEEE Life Membership is automatically bestowed upon an active IEEE member who:

  • Has attained the age of 65 years,
  • Has been a member of IEEE for such a period that the sum of their age and their years of membership equals or exceeds 100 years.

IEEE Life Members receive the following additional benefits:

  • IEEE membership dues and regional assessments are waived,
  • IEEE society fees are waived for qualifying members,
  • Life members are eligible for reduced rates at IEEE-sponsored conferences,
