Tim Whitcher is Service Director for Digital Railway on behalf of WSP in the UK. He brings extensive experience delivering mission and safety-critical systems having worked for start-ups, SMEs, and multinationals and in roles from assistant tester to technical authority. 

Tim’s focus is on delivering a fully integrated, holistic solution that delivers not only the right answer now but as the bedrock for the future. He previously served as Head of Smart Cities & Future Ready Rail at WSP and spends most of his time acting as a technical advisor and trouble-shooter. When not doing that, he is a Visiting Lecturer at Birmingham City University where he has led the development of a systems-inspired model for projects (currently in its first year being actively used by students) and teaches integrated project delivery. 

Tim is a European and Chartered Engineer and holds a BEng(Hons) in Electromechanical Engineering from the University of Southampton, a Certificate in Systems Engineering from the University of Oxford, and an MBA from the University of Leicester. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE, Member of the Institution of Engineering & Technology, and Member of the Institution of Railway Signalling Engineers.
