Reinaldo Tonkoski (SMIEEE) received his B.A.Sc. degree in Control and Automation Engineering, in 2004 and his M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering in 2006 from PUC-RS (Pontifícia Universidade Católica do RS), Brazil, and, his Ph.D. in 2011 from Concordia University, Canada. He was with CanmetENERGY, Natural Resources Canada, from 2009-2010 and a Visiting Professor at Sandia National Laboratories from 2019-2020 where he worked on projects related to the grid integration of renewable energy sources and energy storage systems. 

 Presently, he is the Professor and Chair for Electric Power Transmission and Distribution at the Technical University of Munich. Dr. Tonkoski has authored over one hundred technical publications in peer reviewed journals and conferences and is currently an Editor of IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy, IEEE Systems Journal, and IEEE Access. His research interests include modeling, control and operation of converter dominated power systems.
