IEEE Sensors and Systems Joint Council Chapter (South Brazil Section) Supports MackChip Academic League Technical Activities
The IEEE Sensors and Systems Joint Council Chapter (South Brazil Section) has been supporting the technical activities of the Academic League MackChip, formed by undergraduate students from the Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering programs at Mackenzie Presbyterian University and supported by the IEEE Mackenzie Student Branch.
The League has been actively promoting student engagement in microelectronics, semiconductor technologies, and systems engineering through technical and industry-oriented activities.
In February 2026, the League organized a special activity in collaboration with Synopsys. The event included an online talk by integrated circuit designer Pedro Toledo, who shared his academic and professional journey with the students, from undergraduate studies to his PhD experience, highlighting career opportunities and challenges in the semiconductor field.
The activity also included a hands-on laboratory session conducted by Professor Mauricio Moderno, where students explored FPGA applications through experiments focused on sound generation and digital system implementation.
Additionally, on June 9, 2026, MackChip members participated in a technical visit to Zilia Technologies, a Brazilian semiconductor and electronics manufacturing company, providing students with the opportunity to learn more about semiconductor packaging, and the Brazilian technology ecosystem.
These initiatives aim to strengthen the connection between academia and industry while encouraging the development of future professionals in systems engineering and microelectronics.
