Do SE Before MBSE

Many young engineers are developing SysML model today. They either follow instructions or requirements to make these models. I see that they partially understand the system they are building. I find this to be very similar to young engineers writing and test code functions as per requirements. Most often they lack the big picture. Though it is okay to develop code in this manner as there will be some team integrating and finding bugs, the case of making system level models needs to be treated a little different manner. It is important the young practitioners and budding engineers grasp the big picture. A systems engineering approach is important before doing the Model Based Systems Engineering. This talks indicates the SE processes and how they map to the MBSE development process. It brings out the importance of model simulation which has not been emphasized enough in the academia and industry.
