Systems Council Sponsors 2023 IEEE-HKN Student Leadership Conference
The IEEE Systems Council was proud to sponsor the 2023 IEEE-HKN Student Leadership Conference held on November 3-5, 2023 at The University of Houston. The 3-day event featured workshops, information sessions, panel discussions, networking, and an awards banquet to recognize outstanding chapters, students, and volunteer leaders. Walt Downing (IEEE Systems Council President) joined Tina Brumley (TestEquity) and Jim Cardinal (Burns & McDonnell) in a panel discussion moderated by Ryan Bales (IEEE-HKN President-Elect) on "Truly Understanding Your Customer: System Requirements and Why They are Important?" The conference also featured a recruitment fair that allowed industry, IEEE societies and councils, and graduate schools to interact with the IEEE-HKN technical community. Participants were eager to learn about undergraduate and graduate student scholarship opportunities offered by the IEEE Systems Council.
The three-day event was a rousing success, attracting over 250 students and young professionals. This year’s conference enjoyed a whopping 25% increase in registrations over last year; 320 comments were relayed; 220 resumes were shared; and hundreds of attendees visited the networking and exhibition areas.
