Systems Council Newsletter: Q2 2025 President's Message
Greetings, dear IEEE colleagues and members,
As we move forward through an exciting 2025, I would like to take a moment to reflect on some of the key highlights since March.
In April, we held our first global gathering of officers and AdCom members in Montreal. This important event was well attended, with more than 30 volunteer leaders—including 12 representatives from our member societies—coming together to forge stronger collaborations. The discussions led to significant progress in identifying opportunities for deeper engagement and partnership with our membership societies. Members can access the meeting minutes on our website for detailed insights.
Late April also saw our participation in the IEEE Computer Society’s SWEBOK Summit 2025, an esteemed industry-focused event that convened practitioners, researchers, and educators from the software engineering community. We were honored to contribute to the ongoing effort to develop synergy between IEEE System Council’s Systems Engineering Body of Knowledge (SEBOK) and SWEBOK, fostering closer connections between these vital knowledge domains.
In May, we extended our outreach internationally by joining MeditMaint 2025, a premier conference hosted by the Croatian Maintenance Society (HDO). Through an invitation from the IEEE Reliability Society (RS), we furthered our mission of broadening visibility in the maintenance, asset management, and facility management industries. For additional details on this significant collaboration, please refer to the article elsewhere in this newsletter.
Looking ahead, we invite you to join us for IEEE RASSE 2025 in Singapore, taking place from November 6–9, 2025. This year’s gathering is particularly special as we celebrate 20 Years of Innovation & Excellence alongside our Global Chapter Summit. We have planned remarkable moments, including a Past Presidents’ Reunion—bringing together former leaders for a historic milestone—and a Special Edition History Column, exploring the Council’s legacy through exclusive interviews.
This is an amazing opportunity to connect with our global IEEE Systems Council community, engage in meaningful discussions, and celebrate together. Please join us in Singapore by submit your research papers, special session proposal, workshop proposal and posters. For more information, visit https://2025.ieee-rasse.org/
Warm regards,
Andy Chen
