In a landmark multicity visit aimed at strengthening IEEE Systems Council’s presence in India, President Andy Chen completed an intensive outreach tour across New Delhi, Rajkot, Mysore, Bangalore, and Kerala. The trip focused on expanding chapter activities, deepening academic and industry partnerships, and promoting global entrepreneurship aligned with the Systems Council’s mission.
As noted in the trip briefing, the purpose was “to promote IEEE Systems Council’s activities and build Systems Council’s community in India.”
New Delhi: Advancing Chapter Formation and Section Collaboration
The visit began in New Delhi, where Andy Chen met with Section Chairs, including Professor Abdul Quaiyum Ansari, to discuss the formation of a new IEEE Systems Council chapter and strengthen collaboration with the Delhi Section.
The discussions emphasized the growing relevance of systems thinking in India’s expanding technology ecosystem and the importance of building a sustainable community of volunteers and researchers.
Rajkot: Supporting Flagship Conferences and Global Collaboration
Engagement at Marwadi University
In Rajkot, Andy Chen supported a major member society flagship conference hosted at Marwadi University. He met with the organizing committee led by Conference Vice Chair Professor Amit Ved, who highlighted the value of Systems Council engagement for emerging research communities.
A second engagement at Marwadi University focused on strengthening global IEEE collaborations, including a meeting with Provost Rajendrasinh Jadeja. Discussions centered on expanding Systems Council activities, enabling student participation, and fostering international research partnerships.

Chief Guest for Bangalore Student Chapter Inauguration
In Mysore, Andy Chen served as the Chief Guest for the inauguration of the IEEE Systems Council Bangalore Student Chapter, led by Professor Ram Hegde. The event marked a significant milestone in expanding student involvement in systems engineering and interdisciplinary innovation.
Keynote on the Global Entrepreneurship Ecosystem
He also delivered a keynote address at a workshop on the Global Entrepreneurship Ecosystem, hosted by Professor Shankar. The session emphasized the Systems Council’s commitment to nurturing innovation-driven entrepreneurship and supporting early-stage technology ventures.

At the Acharya Institute of Technology, Andy Chen delivered a keynote titled “Global Entrepreneurship from IEEE Systems Council Perspectives.”

He continued the entrepreneurship theme at Sai Vidya Institute of Technology, where Professor Reddy hosted a workshop focused on innovation, startup ecosystems, and the role of IEEE in enabling global entrepreneurial pathways.

Visit to CUSAT – Centre for Science in Society
In Cochin, Andy Chen visited the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), hosted by Professor Amith Raman. The discussions explored opportunities for Systems Council engagement in societal applications of science and technology.
Entrepreneurship Workshop at Maker Village
At Maker Village, one of India’s leading deep-tech incubators, Andy Chen delivered a keynote at an entrepreneurship workshop hosted by Suresh Nair, Chair of IEEE Entrepreneurship Region 10. The session highlighted global trends in startup funding, deep-tech innovation, and the Systems Council’s role in supporting emerging founders.
Kerala Chapter Inauguration
A major highlight of the Kerala visit was serving as Chief Guest for the IEEE Systems Council Kerala Chapter Inauguration, hosted by Professor Jose and Professor Manoj, Chair of the IEEE Kerala Section. The launch marks a significant expansion of Systems Council activities in southern India.
