Dr. Edward A. Addy has served as Chair of the IEEE Computer Society (CS) Software and Systems Engineering Standards Committee (S2ESC) since 2019 and is Chair of the P1012 Working Group for the Standard on Verification and Validation of Systems, Software, and Hardware. He has been a U.S. Technical Advisor to ISO/IEC JTC1/SC7/WG7. Dr. Addy has served on the IEEE Standards Association Standards Board and several of its committees. He is Chair of the CS Member and Geographic Activities Awards and Recognition Committee and has been the IEEE Technical Activities Board representative to several IEEE-USA committees. He served as a CS Representative to the Systems Council 2018-2019. He received the CS Distinguished Contributor Award in its 2021 inaugural class. Dr. Addy retired in 2002 as a Senior Staff Systems Engineer with Northrop Grumman, having more than 35 years of experience in software and systems engineering management, practice, and research. He has an extensive background in program and project management. He holds a Ph.D. in computer science, with master’s and bachelor’s degrees in mathematics, and has PMP certification. He is a co-author of Reuse-Based Software Engineering: Techniques, Organization, and Measurement (John Wiley & Sons, 2001) and has published and presented on software system assurance and software product lines.
