Weihua Zhuang is a University Professor in electrical and computer engineering at the University of Waterloo, and a former Tier I Canada Research Chair in Wireless Communication Networks (2010-2024). Her research focuses on developing fundamental theories and innovative techniques to increase data transmission speed, accuracy and efficiency, and to ensure connection reliability in communication networks. She holds 9 patents, has co-authored 15 books and 500 technical publications, with 15 Best Paper Awards and 29,500 citations. She is a Fellow of IEEE and the Royal Society of Canada.

Weihua is Past President of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (VTS), currently chairs the IEEE TAB Periodicals Partnership Opportunities Committee, and serves on IEEE PSPB. She was Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, and Symposia Chair of IEEE Global Communications Conference 2011. She received the R.A. Fessenden Award (2021) from IEEE Canada for technical contributions and the VTS Outstanding Service Award (2013).
