Vitor Paiva Medeiros da Cunha is an Electrical Engineering undergraduate student at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), Brazil, with a strong focus on social-environmental engineering leadership technology-driven entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems. His academic and professional journey sits at the intersection of engineering, management, data, artificial intelligence and organizational strategy.
Professionally, Vitor works as a Project Management Office (PMO) Project Analyst at Indicium AI, a global AI & Data company. There, he contributes to structuring the foundations of the company’s entire project management infrastructure. His work environment has reinforced his interest in technology management, ethical AI adoption, and the collaboration between industry and global technical organizations.
Vitor has an extensive and fast-growing history of involvement with IEEE. He is an active voice for the IEEE Region 9 and the global IEEE Entrepreneurship ecosystem, where he supports strategic initiatives related to venture development, events, partnerships and communications. He has played key roles in the organization and execution of high-impact entrepreneurship programs, including the IEEE Entrepreneurship Ambassadors Program, IEEE Hard Tech Venture Summit and multiple regional and global IEEE conferences and workshops.
At the local and regional levels, in 2024 Vitor served as Secretary of the IEEE Student Branch at UFRN, Vice-Chair and Webmaster of the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) Student Chapter at UFRN. He was also part of the leadership team of the IEEE RNR & RNYP 2024, the largest IEEE student event in Brazil at the time, where he led marketing and sponsorship strategies that resulted in significant growth in participation and funding.
Beyond IEEE, Vitor has held leadership roles at LUMUS Engenharia, the junior enterprise of Electrical Engineering at UFRN, progressing from Project Consultant to Project Director up to the year of 2023. He is also one of the leaders of the Group of Endeavours in Electrical Energy (GEEE), a university initiative focused on energy efficiency, data-driven energy management, and studies related to Brazil’s free energy market.
His research and technical interests include data analytics applied to energy systems, technology commercialization, AI governance and innovation management. Across all his activities, Vitor is driven by the belief that global collaboration, diversity, and ethical leadership are essential to building sustainable technological solutions. He sees IEEE as a powerful platform to connect students, researchers, professionals, and entrepreneurs worldwide and actively works to expand access to these opportunities, particularly in Latin America.
