S.Prabakar is Professor and Head, Department of Biomedical Engineering, and Manager, International Collaborations at Sona College of Technology, Salem., India. He is also serving as the Academic Research Coordinator for 15 KITE–FIBRE projects, with a total value of CAD $4,873,267, in collaboration with the University Health Network and the University of Toronto, Canada. He received a Bachelor of Engineering in Instrumentation and Control Engineering from Madurai Kamaraj University, India in 1999. He has a good academic record with Master of Engineering and PhD Degree in the faculty of Information and Communication Engineering from College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University specialized in Medical Electronics and Medical Image Processing during 2006 and 2014. Previously, He was working at Dr. N.G.P. Institute of Technology, Coimbatore with various additional responsibilities as Director Research, Chief Coordinator – IIPC, Vice President & IIC Ambassador–MIC, Convener – Center for International Relations, Center for IPR, PMKVY Skill Development Center, etc.

As an IEEE Senior Member, his research and learning involves, integrating AI technology, Machine Learning and medical sciences. It pertains to inculcate ethical attitude and leadership qualities with ability to work in multidisciplinary area. He is also a Fellow Member of IE(I), Life member of Indian Society for Technical Education(LMISTE) and Biomedical Engineering Society of India(BMESI). He has 3 years of experience in Medical Electronics Industries, 24 years of experience in Teaching and Research and 21 years of experience in Academic Administration. His research interests include AI for Medicine, ML & DL for Biomedical Applications, Wearable Healthcare Systems, Graphical System Design, Medical Image/Bio Signal Processing, Bio-Modeling, Evolutionary Computing, Cognitive Development for Disabled Children and Bio Virtual Instrumentation.

He established various centers like DrNGP Centre for Medical Equipment and Systems, Center for Medical Imaging, Medical Equipment Calibration Center, Center for Product Development, PMKVY Skill Development Center on Medical Equipment Technology and AICTE sponsored Industry Institute Partnership Cell. He has published 112 technical papers in reputed National and International Journals and Conferences and Book Chapters. He has also filed 12 patents and 3 granted of his distinguished research work. He served as chair, editor and reviewer for many National and International Conferences and Journals with high repute and also handled a number of industry/government funded projects and schemes for the worth of 128.7 Lakhs. He is Director-Founder of Healing Hands MedTek Pvt Ltd a Medical Device Design, Development, Manufacturing and Consulting company supported by Government of India-MSME.

Dr.S.Prabakar is a member of Board of Studies, Information and Communication Engineering, Anna University from 2020 to 2024. He is also a member of framing the CBCS Syllabi R-2017 & R2021 for UG degree programmes (BME & Medical Electronics) of the Constituent Colleges and Affiliated Institutions Anna University, Chennai. He has guided 2 scholars as joint supervisor and guiding 7 scholars as supervisor under Anna University. He served as convener, editor and reviewer for many National and International Conferences and Journals with high repute. He also handled a number of industry/government funded projects and schemes. He wishes to develop expertise in academic support techniques to develop biomedical products and services for the benefit of industry and society at large with basic engineering & technology and medical science.
