Sercan Aygun is an Assistant Professor in the School of Computing and Informatics at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he leads the tiny Machine Learning and Embedded Computing Laboratory. Before his tenure-track appointment, he served as a postdoctoral researcher and visiting assistant professor at UL Lafayette. His research focuses on hardware-efficient and emerging computing systems for lightweight AI, including stochastic computing, unary processing, hyperdimensional/vector-symbolic computing, and tiny learning machines. He has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed papers, completed more than 500 certified technical reviews, and contributed to multiple pending patent applications. His work has received several recognitions, including Best Paper and Best Poster awards at GLSVLSI and DCAS, and he was selected as an MLCommons Machine Learning and Systems Rising Star in 2023.
