S. K. Ramesh is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at California State University, Northridge with over 37 years of service across the CSU system as a dean, department chair, and faculty member. As dean, he established many innovative programs in renewable energy, assistive technology, and advanced manufacturing. He has served the IEEE for over 42 years on the IEEE Board of Directors, Awards Board, Publication Services and Products Board, IEEE-HKN Board of Governors, and the IEEE Fellows Committee. Key leadership roles include 2016-17 IEEE Vice President, Educational Activities, and 2016 IEEE-HKN President. The IEEE Learning Network (ILN) and Try Engineering Summer Institute program that he championed as Vice President of Educational Activities are models for collaboration across IEEE. Ramesh is an active ABET volunteer and is presently the Past President of ABET, the global accreditation organization that accredits over 4,700 programs worldwide in engineering, technology, computing, and applied and natural sciences. He served as ABET President in 2022-23, broadening engagement globally, and leading ABET’s 2200 volunteers and staff to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion. Ramesh is an IEEE Fellow recognized for “contributions to entrepreneurship in engineering education”, and founding Director of CSU Northridge’s internationally acclaimed AIMS2 program that supports underrepresented students in engineering. He presently leads the multi-institutional “SECURE for Student Success” program supported by the US Department of Education. He received his BS degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the University of Madras, and his M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
