Rich Hilliard is a long-time contributor to IEEE Computer Society standards. He was editor of the first standard on software and systems architecture, IEEE 1471-2000 and served as project editor when it was internationalized as ISO/IEC/IEEE 42010:2011. He serves as Chair of the S2ESC Architecture Working Group, as an IEEE Computer Society liaison with, and a US delegate to, ISO/IEC JTC 1 SC 7: Systems and Software Engineering, with a focus on the 42000 series of standards for enterprise, systems and software architecture.

Currently, he is project editor for ISO/IEC 9837, Systems Resilience and IEEE P1228, Software Safety. He is a contributor to both SEBOK (Systems Engineering Body of Knowledge) and SWEBOK (IEEE Software Engineering Body of Knowledge).

When not volunteering in IEEE, he is a consultant and researcher on systems and software architecture and engineering.
