Prof. K.Porkumaran is Senior Professor and Principal, Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore, affiliated to Anna University, Chennai, India. Has outstanding academic record and received Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering from Madurai Kamaraj University, India, Master’s and Doctoral Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering specialized in Control Systems from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore. For my PhD thesis, he worked on “New Algebraic Criterion for Analysis and Design of Linear Systems” and developed a frame work and control strategies for Control Systems Engineering (Advisor: Professor Emeritus Dr. S N Sivanandam).

Dr Porkumaran has 30 years of experience in teaching, 21 years of experience in research and development and 20 years experience in academic administration. He actively engaged with Professional Societies as Fellow, Institution of Engineers (IE), Fellow IETE, Senior Member IEEE, Senior Member of International Society of Automation (ISA), Life member of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Biomedical Engineering Society of India (BMESI) and Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), Professional Engineer(PEng), Chartered Engineer(CEng).

Served as Immediate Past Chairman, IEEE Madras Section, President, IEEE TEMS India Chair, Chair, IEEE Reliability Madras Chapter, Vice Chair, IEEE India Council Sustainable Development Activities. Awarded as a Foremost Engineer of the World and Outstanding Scientist of the 21st century by “International Biographical Centre of Cambridge”, England 2007 and 2008 respectively. He has been identified as an outstanding person in the field of Science and Technology by MARQUIS Who’s Who, USA in the year 2006.

He received prestigious ISTE Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan National Award for Best Engineering College Principal, IEI Outstanding Engineer Award 2020, CSI Distinguished Principal Award, IEEE Outstanding Branch Counselor Award 2016 from IEEE USA, Best ISTE Chapter Chairman Award 2014, ICTACT Best Coordinator Award (2012, 2013), ICATCT Innovator Award (2012, 2013, 2014), Best Outgoing Student Award 2000, PSG College of Technology, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry-FICCI Startup Leader of the year Award 2023. Convened and organized many Workshops, Conferences and Symposia and chaired several technical sessions and the moderator for many scientific sessions in international conferences. Mentor and branch counselor for professional chapters like IEEE, ISOI, ISTE, BMESI, ACM.Published more than 175 research papers and 22 book chapters, extensively in international journals and forums with good number of citations, three patents granted, filed and published nine patents and has handled a number of industry/government funded projects and schemes. Served as editor and reviewer for many international conferences and journals of high repute. My research areas of interest include Biomedical Systems, signal, image and video processing, Instrumentation, Control Systems, Modeling and Simulation, Machine Learning and Deep Learning. Visited foreign universities at Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai and USA. To his credit, 14 Ph.D scholars completed their doctoral degree under my supervision and two in progress. Also, he received a grant in aid of more than six crores from various Government funding agencies and leading corporate like AICTE, DST, CSIR, ISRO, DRDO, ICMR, ISTE, National Instruments, IEEE, Ministry of Defense, etc., He rendered my service as member of academic, governing council, Board of Studies for various reputed Institutions and Universities.

Dr. K.Porkumaran also served as Chairman, IEEE Madras Section and Leadership position in IEEE India Council and Region 10 Asia Pacific. He is winner of the prestigious Defence India Startup Challenge DISC 7 and 10 SPRINT under IDEX, Defence Innovation Organization, Ministry of Defence, Government of India developing autonomous system for indigenous Unmanned Submarine Vehicle for Indian Navy and Gyros for tankers of Indian Army. He is the founder and Director of Armor Grandeur Pvt Ltd- defence startup. He was felicitated by Honorable Raksha Mantri during Defex expo 2022 at Gandhinagar Gujarat.

To his credit and contributions towards defense start-up eco system, he have been nominated as Mentor for development of Telangana State Eco system for Aerospace and Defence sectors.
