Dr. Babak Fahimi is an expert on the subject of electric machinery, power electronics, and electric propulsion drives. He has published over 370 scientific articles on various aspects of electric machinery and their control over the past two decades. He holds 22 US patents on the subject of electromechanical energy conversion with six more pending. He has supervised 34 PhD and 26 M.S. theses to their successful completion. Dr. Fahimi has been the PI of several successful projects funded by NSF, ONR, ARAP-e, DoE and many large and small companies. For his excellence in research he was awarded the IEEE Cyril Veinott electromechanical energy conversion award from the IEEE Power and Energy Society, IEEE R. M. Bass young power electronics investigator award from IEEE Power Electronics Society, Ralph Teetor educational award from the Society of Automotive Engineers, and Fulbright scholarship from the department of states. Dr. Fahimi is a Fellow of IEEE for his contributions to analysis of adjustable speed motor drives.
